Tamil Nadu

India’s southernmost state and home to one of its most burgeoning film scenes: Tollywood. From the UNESCO World Heritage Sites left behind by the Chola Empires and Pallava dynasty; to the mark left behind by the British, after Chennai, or Madras as it was then known, Tamil Nadu’s capital, became an important post for the East India Trading Company. Pondicherry provides some French civility, whilst the hill station of Ooty is a scenic journey and a welcome respite from the heat. A beautiful and less-explored state, Tamil Nadu is absolutely baking in the summer months, so look to travel between November and February.
