Mcleodganj

A suburb of Dharamshala (often mistaken as being the main town itself) Mcleodganj is where the seat of The Tibetan Government in Exile is located, the residence of His Holiness The Dalai Lama, and where most find themselves whilst travelling here. Lined with coffee shops and cafés, dishing up Western comforts, as well as Tibetan favourites: steaming plates of momos and bowls of thukpa. Long an important Buddhist pilgrimage site, experience the morning prayers at The Namgyal Monastery and learn about the plight of the town’s 8000 refugees at the Tibetan Museum. Best visited between March and June.
