Ahmedabad

Often mistaken as Gujarat’s capital, Ahmedabad is its most populous and modern city. Old and new jostle for space alongside The Sabarmati River. As well as being a business hub, it is also home to Mahatma Gandhi’s Ashram and The Calico Museum of Textiles, one of the world’s finest textile museums. The Adalaj Stepwell is a must see as is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of its old town’s distinctive Jain community’s wooden havelis and colourful pols (neighbourhoods). For the best weather, travel between the months of November and February.
