Three-hours drive south-west of Mumbai and known as ‘The Oxford of the East’ Pune is home to some of India’s most established educational institutions. Uniting modern and ancient it is also a haven for yoga and meditation, namely the infamous Osho International Meditation Centre and Iyengar School of Yoga. Pune enjoys a far milder climate compared to much of the rest of the country, seldom reaching much above 30°C, so can be visited year-round. May can be hot and the monsoon months, between June and October, wet.
