Landour

Just 35 km from Dehradun, it is twinned with its neighbouring town, Mussoorie. Landour derives its name from Llanddowror, a village in Carmarthenshire, southwest Wales, as it is said that its misty landscapes and rolling hills bear an uncanny resemblance. A former military cantonment, today it is a favourite hill station of travellers escaping the scorching Indian summer. The best time to visit is between March and June. It is a well-known hiking spot, whilst the nearby Mussoorie Lake, lined with street vendors and budding boatmen, is a popular attraction.
