Nashik

India’s Napa Valley, at just over three-hours drive north of Maharashtra’s capital, Nashik is a favourite bolt-hole of Mumbaikers seeking a short break from the city, with crowds descending for its annual jazz festival, each February. Its fertile rolling plains are home to the country’s most esteemed vineyards and also bless it with picture-perfect scenery. Located along the banks of the holy Godavari River, it also hosts one of the largest religious gatherings on the planet, the Kumbh Mela. Generally mild, the best months to visit are between October and March.
