Orchha

Nestled along the banks of the Betwa River, Orchha is just 15 km south of Jhansi. Today, a sleepy agricultural town it was the former capital of the Bundela rulers, and one of the most significant urban metropolises of its time. This vibrant history has left it with an impressive display of 16th-century Rajput architecture, from palaces to temples, and royal cenotaphs. This, plus plenty of opportunities to explore the surrounding countryside, it’s easy to see why Orchha is one of the most popular spots in Madhya Pradesh. Best visited between October to March.
