The blue city. You’ll hear many differing theories as to where Jodhpur gets its cornflower hues. From an indicator that it is a Brahmin household, or that it keeps the houses cool in the relentless summers, which can reach temperatures north of 50°C. Between October and March is the best time to visit. You (quite literally) cannot miss the 15th-century Mehrangarh Fort, which overlooks the vivacious Old Town. Almost as impressive, is the 20th-century Umaid Bhawan Palace, the residence of the reigning Maharaja of Jodhpur.
