Kerala
Occupying 600 km of glistening Arabian coastline, and 1500 km of interconnecting backwaters, Kerala moves to a different beat, or should that be, boat. In a state of almost permanent serenity, even its cities of Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram maintain an air of languidness. The home of Ayurveda, many travel here for its healing qualities, as well as the wildlife sanctuaries of Periyar, Chinnar, Silent Valley, Eravikulam, and Wayanad national parks. From the misty coffee plantations and spice gardens of its hills, its culinary specialities and colourful festivals, Kerala has so much going for it, yet despite being one of India’s most popular destinations, it never feels overrun. Travel between November and February for the best weather.
